speaking in tongues

I was able to take my time today and I still got the living room painted. I have found that if I take my time and spread out the work I am not as tired at the end of the day.

I have had several thoughts on my mind and I want to share them with you...

Chapter 2 in the book of Acts is literally packed with more of God. As Pentecostals the world usually focuses on Tongues but there is so much more to God. But for now this is what I want to talk about.

And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:4

I have been Spirit Filled since April of 1995. I remember the night I received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. I wasn't even seeking speaking in tongues. I thought it was fine for everyone else but I loved God without it. Why did I need it? God sure showed me a thing or two.

I went up to the altar for all these older ladies in dresses and their hair up in buns to lay hands on me. As they laid their hands on me, out it came. I didn't ask, think about, or seek it. It just happened. I guess God knew I would analyze it too much if I thought about receiving it.

I got to Terry's house and walked in and he wanted to know what happened to me. He said I was glowing. He didn't understand Tongue Talking at the time but he knew something had happened to me that night. I did too .

Speaking in Tongues is equivalent to a baby learning to speak. The more the baby speaks, the better they sound and the more you understand what they are saying. Tongues are the same way. You start sounding like you are speaking another language and chances are thats what you are doing.

For a few years now, when I speak in Tongues, I say a couple of words over and over. Terry started cutting up with me about these words. I knew it was happening but I didn't know why. What I am saying in the Spirit sounds like real words but to be repeating them, I knew meant something.

Months ago I attempted to look up these two words but I couldn't find anything on these words. But I was looking them up wrong. I was putting "La" in front of the words. I should have been just looking up the words by themselves. And a couple months ago I did.

God had been speaking to me through my Speaking in Tongues and I did not even know it. If it had not been for Terry questioning and joking with me about why I did it, I can't say I would have looked up the words.

I want to share these 3 words with you. Of course they won't have the same impact on you as they did me but my point sharing this with you is that God does speak to us....

"La"---used for emphasis or expressing surprise

"Toya"---Surname meaning house door, or door into the valley

"Henna"---Favored Grace

Only if you know me do you know God has forever used DOORS to speak to me. I am reminded of this Scripture....

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. Matthew 7:7,8

We get all caught up in the act of Tongues. It is so much more. The scripture says it gives you POWER. Tongues STRENGTHENS you. Tongues will enable you to HEAR from God. You WORSHIP God with your Prayer language. You PRAY to Him as well.

In the natural we don't understand why God does what He does. Spiritual matters can only be discerned by the Spiritual side that is in you. You must put aside what YOU think and do it His way.

For months now I have known God is speaking to me about the direction my life will be taking. God will never force me to go through the door that He has opened for me but I chose to.

I want all God has for me.
Don't you?
